Happy World Hijab day. What are we celebrating? Well, of cause, freedom of choice and what better way to encourage donning the hijab than reviewing some awesome headgear products by Hidden Pearls. They have the proper hook up for any hijabi and niqabi. Hidden Pearls is an online store specialising in beautiful headgear/hijabs, accessories and Islamic gifts for woman all around the world. They have designs to meet the everyday styling feel as well as let’s paint the town red designs.
I knew I wanted to do something special in terms of photography and styling these beauties. I contacted my friend Carmen from With A Little Grace Photography here in Doha and I was delighted (more like freaking over the moon) when she agreed. I absolutely love how it turned out and it truly shows how stunning these scarves are and how beautiful anyone can look wearing hijab.
It is important to remember that hijab includes the way a person walks, talks, looks and thinks – all of these things need to be done modestly and applies to men and women in Islam.
They first got in touch with me a few months back and the owner was incredibly sweet which makes supporting a brand so worthwhile. She was kind enough to send me not one but two of their finest scarves in exchange for an honest review. It was delivered almost immediately to our UK address but has taken me up until now to do a review as I am not based there anymore and I wanted to really make sure these scarves experienced the test of time.
I was sent two scarves which I immediately fell deeply in love with and still pretty much am. One was a nude with a brown bead trimming from their Pearl Hijab line and the other was a beautiful pastel green from their Chiffon Hijab Line.
I was already planning outfits in my head that would match perfectly with each. My favourite of cause was the nude as it is so versitile and I am able to wear it with almost everything I own. The pastel green/minty colour is beautiful but it was kind of transparent and I found it difficult to style.
What I Love:
- Light weight
- Generous size
- Easy to style
- Available in multiple colours
- Creates folds and drapes
- Multiple ways to wear
- Quick delivery in the UK
What I Didn’t Like:
- Slippery without an under scarf
- There’s no branding on it
- Stains easily like anything made in this fabric
The workmanship on each scarf is impeccable. I’ve worn these for almost four months now and they still look great. The beading hasn’t come off, the material hasn’t withered and the colour is still crisp even after multiple washes and ironing. I’ve worn it has a turban, draped with pins and without pins and I’ve tried different styles too – let me know if you’d like to see a tutorial on all the ways I’ve worn it. I highly recommend this range – they are really worth the money. I have yet to try other scarves from their line but I can’t wait. There are a few that I have my eye on already. They offer UK delivery for just £1.19 and free returns within 7 days – how super awesome is that?
