For What It’s Worth

Some people create their own storms and then get upset when it rains.

I think it is safe to say that many of us have been through endless episodes with an annoying selfish family member or friend. You know that one who clearly needs your help but can never admit that they do?? Yes that one!

Some days you think okay let’s just be patient with this person and allow them to find their way because after all we are all walking the path of life in our own different ways and we ourselves are not without faults of our own. They ask for your help and so you offer your assistance and sometimes your advice but then it seems to just be falling on deaf ears because no matter what you say they just know better. They know all the answers so why ask you to begin with right? Why bother?

I have come to realise that all they are doing is stealing your energy. Attention seekers who constantly want you to feel sorry for them and agree with them even when in fact nothing they say is making any sense at all. And the moment you need them they are unavailable.

Mother Theresa put it this way she says:

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.

Love them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.

Be kind anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.

Be good anyway.

Honesty will make you vulnerable.

Be honest anyway.

People need help but will attack you if you help them.

Help them anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.

It was never between you and them anyway.

Let’s take a closer look at how our behaviour affects the people closest to us, and hopefully we can make decisions to change for the better.
