The idea of maintaining a really healthy lifestyle is enticing but I find it really hard to stick to it. Something always comes up and disrupts my whole cycle. I have gained so much weight recently. And don’t get me wrong, I’m not unhappy with my appearance – I just don’t feel healthy anymore. For my entire childhood and early adulthood, I was a very active person with good health habits. I played netball, football, cricket, athletics, swimming and karate. However, my lifestyle changed so much when I got married. I’ve just had far less motivation to exercise or even follow a healthy eating plan. Yip, I traded carrots and celery for crisps and chocolates and those long adventurous hikes for movies and cuddles. I have become so comfortable with being lazy but I miss moving and being active. So, for that reason I have decided to get back into shape not only physically but mentally too.
Amraj is pretty much fed up with feeling unhealthy too and we have decided to do something to rectify our habits. But instead of completely altering our current eating and exercise choices, we are going to make small changes in the hopes of leading a better lifestyle.
- Drink less soda and drink more water
- Eat more fruit and vegetables
- Aim for smaller portions at dinner
- Consume fewer carbs and less sugar
- Become more active
My fitness resolution for 2016 is to climb a flight of stairs without feeling winded! I’d like to share this journey with all of you. These posts will come in the form of healthy recipes, meal plans that I follow, home exercise ideas and my favourite applications for workouts on my phone in order to inspire myself first and some of you to start your own journey towards living a more healthy and active lifestyle.
I will check in every Friday with something new for you all to read. If you have any inspiring fitness stories, exercise routines or eating plans that you follow or just little word of encouragement I would love to hear all about it in the comment section.
