So Raj and I went on a short trip to Abu Dhabi over the weekend. It was lovely. We stayed at Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana for a weekend break to escape from busy Dubai and this was just the perfect place to relax. On arrival our cases were taken straight to our rooms by efficient and friendly staff. We were welcomed by an ambience of luxury and comfort as the valet staff opened our doors and parked our car. We experienced an immediate feeling of welcome and friendliness as we entered the reception area.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment with a balcony overlooking the ocean. The room was equiped with a king size bed, sitting area, massive bathroom, kichenette and flat screen TV. It was an intimate and elegant retreat, a little home away from home. We were in heaven. It was absolutely beautiful. The hotel in general is meticulously taken care of and there was plenty of staff around to help in any way.
Amazed by all the facilities this hotel had to offer, we made our way down to the pool area, which is absoutley beautiful, and enjoyed an evening under the starry arabian sky. Later that evening we made our way back to our room which was on the eleventh floor, ordered dinner and enjoyed a romantic meal on the balcony – just the two of us, before getting ready for a well deserved rest.
The next morning we ordered an american styled breakfast from a world class menu and watched the sun rise. A holiday can’t go by without a trip to the local shopping centre for a bit of retail therapy. You guessed it! Raj felt a bit generous and took me shopping! Back at the hotel we splashed about in the pool and attempted the sea water but it was way too cold and instead decided to relax in the jacuzzi, alone! As men and women are separated. None the less we enjoyed yet another scrumptious meal in our cosy room before kicking back and watching movies.
We met up with my old school friend as well, Amina, and had a good time laughing and drinking coffee while giving her much appreciated advice on the do’s and don’ts of living abroad. It is always so nice to see a familiar face, I really needed it. When the night ended she gave me South African treats (biltong and an orea slab) which I devoured before we even reached our hotel. I wish her all the best for the future and there isn’t anyone more deserving of such a wonderful opportunity than she is. All praise be to God. #ForeverTraveller ❤
I fell in love with this place, it’s so much more relaxed and green compared to other Middle Eastern cities I have been too. The people in Abu Dhabi are friendly, warm and welcoming, and importantly, it is much cheaper than Dubai in our opinion.
We didn’t do any sightseeing but that’s fine because I’m definately making another trip to this beautiful city. Perfect excuse for another break.
Anyway, that’s all folks, blog you later!
